Joint-Venture Development with Kig Mining
The purpose of this joint-venture is to initiate the production of diamonds to be delivered to
GDIH's gold and diamond platform with evaluation by internationally
recognised evaluation firm for marketing to third party buyers and/or brokers
through the Gold and Diamond Club.
The producing mine for this joint-venture is Silverstreams; it is
the company's most advanced alluvial diamond project with trial mining
well under way. The Silverstreams alluvial diamond project covers 3,589 hectars
and is located on the northern bank of the Orange River some 14 kilometers from the
town of Prieska. Prior to 2004, test mining by a previous company recovered
good-quality alluvial diamonds from the primary and Rooikoppie gravels.
Among the stones recovered were three large stones weighing 65.8, 50.1, and
28.8 carats, respectively. In total, 64000 metric tons of gravel were processed,
yielding 81 diamonds and a total of 280.04 carats. The average recovery
grade was 0.44 cpht, with an average stone size of 3.95 carats. An average
selling price of $2019 per carat was obtained.
